James Friedrich knows all too well about creating success then losing it all when building a product based business. He Founded the snowboard company "Class 5 Snowboards" at a young age and made some real leaps and bounds but without the business acumen and  knowledge he is powered with today couldn't keep the company afloat.

This didn't stop James from continuing to forge forward with learning and applying all he could within the outdoor industry. Landing him now, as the Senior Merchant with MEC where he understands what truly makes a product commercial in todays retail landscape. James has taken years of working through product development, product management and now merchandising and buying to develop his new entrepreneurial venture called "VENTURING UP". A place where new product makers can develop their business from the ground up, from $0-$100,000.

As a Senior Merchant for MEC, he oversees a $60M product portfolio, collaborating with some of the outdoor industry's major brands. But before all that, James was an engineer and startup founder. His primary goal is to offer entrepreneurs the guidance and support he wished he had many years ago
